Cheese Scones








Method of cooking : Baking
Skill: Rubbing in

Ingredients
100g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
25g butter
50g cheese – grated
3 tbsp water
Egg for glazing

Method
1. Preheat oven at 220°C.
2. Grease a baking tray.
3. Rub in the butter till the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
4. Add in grated cheese.
5. Pour water in all at once and mix into a soft elastic dough with a palette knife.
6. Roll out dough into 1.5cm thickness on a floured board.
7. Cut with a fluted cutter.
8. Brush top with egg yolk or milk.
9. Bake for 10 to 15mins.


Fruit Scones

1 tsp sugar
3 tbsp water
Egg for glazing

Method
1. Preheat oven at 220°C.
2. Grease a baking tray.
3. Rub in the butter till the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
4. Add in raisin and sugar.
5. Pour water in all at once and mix into a soft elastic dough with a palette knife.
6. Roll out dough into 1.5cm thickness on a floured board.
7. Cut with a fluted cutter.
8. Brush top with egg yolk or milk.
9. Bake for 10 to 15mins.


Wholemeal Scones











Method of cooking : Baking
Skill: Rubbing in 

Ingredients
50g wholemeal flour
50g plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
25g butter
4 tbsp milk
Serving
1 tbsp strawberry jam
15g butter
Method
1. Preheat oven at 210°C.
2. Grease a baking tray.
3. Sift plain flour and mix it with the wholemeal flour in a large bowl.
4. Rub in the butter till the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
5. Add 3 tbsp milk and mix with a fork.
6. If the mixture does not come together, then add another tbsp of milk slowly.  Do not add too much.
7. Roll out dough into 2cm thickness on a floured board.
8. Cut with a round cookie cutter.
9. Brush top with egg yolk or milk.
10. Bake for 10 minutes.
11. Serve hot or cold with butter and jam.
